POSTED September 15 2025: A revised City of Oronoco zoning ordinance proposal has been released from WSB with recommendations from the Planning and Zoning commission as of todays date. The proposed changes include increasing the minimum lot size for R1 from 12,000 to 14,000 square feet and setting 10,000 square feet for single-family homes in R2, while maintaining 14,000 for multi-family homes. The discussion also covered the implementation of overstory trees, with one required in the front yard and one additional tree on the lot. The council considered the development flex zoning (DF) to allow for more flexible development while maintaining control. The meeting concluded with a motion to approve these changes and send them to the council for final approval on Tuesday 10/21/25. Revised Copy: Click here to view

POSTED August 20th 2025: The City of Oronoco is proposing to repeal and replace its existing Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map. The ordinance update process began in the winter of 2023-2024 with the goal of streamlining and modernizing the City’s current zoning ordinance. The update is intended to improve clarity around allowable uses and development standards, reduce confusion and increase alignment with the type of development Oronoco expects in the coming years.

POSTED August 7th, 2025: Due to a very unfortunate crossover during the July utility billing cycle, those residents on ACH/Auto draft, may have found an error withdrawl on their banking statements today. BOTH of the June and July cycle payments were withdrawn together this morning in error. Please know, that we worked diligently to reverse this activity before 5pm TODAY. Full funds are being returned to your accounts. The correct amount due for your June billing will repost on Monday 8/11. POSTED August 5th, 2025: Wow ya'll! Oronoco did NOT disappoint tonight! Thank you to the more than 350 residents who came out to celebrate National Night out in ORONOCO! Great to see you all at this years celebration! Thank you to our Oronoco Fire Department and First Responders who worked their tails off to serve the crowd, to the City staff who are so dedicated to Oronoco, our Olmsted County Sheriff's and K-9 team for their continued support and to all of the volunteers and entities who support our beautiful City! THANK YOU! *A Special shout out to locally owned Jolly Jumpz for donating the bounce house and bringing so much joy to our littles.

POSTED August 2, 2025: Who's ready to PLAY? This summer, our Parks and Trails committee along with our Public Works Department have been busy addressing areas of improvement. From fresh playground mulch, tree trimming, resurfacing, repairs and a new pickelball court, several of our 8 parks have received some fresh love! Please help us continue to keep our parks safe & clean. The new pickleball lines are located at the courts near City Hall. POSTED July 31, 2025: While the city welcomes the integration of golf carts as a means of transportation in its neighborhoods, safety guidelines and age appropriate use are some of the reasons we also require a permit for them within the city limits. *MN State Statute requires that all operators be a minimum of 16 years of age with a valid drivers license. The Planning Commission for the City of Oronoco will hold a public hearing on the proposed new zoning ordinance on August 18, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. at the Oronoco City Hall, 115 2nd Street NW, Oronoco, MN 55960. The proposed map and ordinance are also available at City Hall. The public is invited to attend the public hearing and provide input. The proposed ordinance is subject to revisions following public hearing and further consideration by the Planning Commission and City Council.

POSTED July 14, 2025: Cross Boring will be taking place in the city limits over the next few weeks through manholes in our streets and roads. Contactors with Equix will be working in combination with our public works department to run cameras through existing lines to inspect and insure our services are properly maintained. This service is free to the City of Oronoco and is not taxpayer funded. Work is expected to begin today 7/14/25 in the River Park area. Cedar Woodlands and Riverwood Hills will follow. Homeowners will not experience any interruptions of service.
