Oronoco Food Shelf
The Food Shelf is affiliated with Channel One and open to anyone who visits needing food.
The Food Shelf continues to be an important outreach for the community. We have continued to experience growth in numbers of folks using the service. We are extremely fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteers that keep the food shelf functioning efficiently. Currently, we offer a drive-through pick up service. We have prepacked boxes. We add dairy products, meat, and any fresh produce when we have it. This will continue for the foreseeable future.
The Oronoco Food Shelf is a 501c3 charity so any donations are deductible on taxes to whatever extent is allowed through the IRS.
We are not currently searching for a new location. We will continue to keep the food shelf open at the Presbyterian Church location 20 3rd Street SW. We are offering the drive-through service until the restrictions are lifted. When operations return to normal anyone unable to navigate the stairs will be offered alternate shopping services by volunteers.
We are also offering a home delivery service on the open dates. So if someone is unable to visit or chooses not to they should call one of the volunteer numbers to arrange delivery.
The Food Shelf is open on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month. The hours are 5 - 6:30 pm year around no changes in times during daylight savings.
The Food Shelf is staffed entirely by volunteers and anyone may get food if they need it.
Volunteering is a fun and easy way to offer help to the community. Email Carol Roth, cvroth@bevcomm.net, to set a time to visit and have an orientation.
Donations of food and paper goods may be dropped off any time at the donation bins located at City Hall and Caseys, or on food shelf days between 4&5pm at the Presbyterian Church.
