City Engineer

The City of Oronoco currently contracts with Stantec for its engineering needs. Joe Palen- Senior Associate, is the city's point of contact with Stantec.

Joe Palen

Joe is experienced in large multi-discipline projects involving municipal utilities, storm-water management, and street reconstruction. His main responsibilities for these projects include project utility and roadway design, oversight of plan and specification preparation, and communications with city staff, agencies, and public stakeholders. Joe utilizes these skills while acting as City Engineer in several communities in southeastern Minnesota.

Recently, Joe has served as the project manager for the design of the Old TH 14 / Elm Avenue reconstruction in Waseca. This $18.5 million project included approximately 3.35 miles of concrete pavement and extensive storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water main replacement. Joe also recently completed the complex Zumbro River Restoration, which received the 2019 ACEC-MN Grand Award.
