City Water and Sewer:Recently, the Water and Sewer Committee secured a state grant to better assess our water and sewer infrastructure issues in potentially trouble prone areas of our beautiful community. Four areas within the Oronoco city limits have strategically been selected as study areas for this assessment. In turn, these residents will be receiving a letter within the next month explaining the upcoming assessment process.- An engineering firm will be hired to conduct a property site evaluation to locate wells, septic systems and buildings in the study areas. It is important to understand that these evaluations are NOT compliance inspections. Our goal is to utilize these professional assessments in an effort to become a more informed community. - In March, the Oronoco City Council passed a City Ordinance requiring the pumping of private septic systems once every three years. Currently, we are in the process of drawing-up official sign-off forms that will be distributed to local pumping contractors. If your system has been pumped recently, please be sure to keep the hard copy statement from the licensed contractor and notify the City Clerk’s office at 507-367-4405.- For more information regarding the proposed study areas and current Water/Sewer Committee minutes, please view www.oronoco.com. Please keep in mind, the water and sewer information gathered by the City will greatly help our community leaders assess the city's infrastructure needs as a whole. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us through this important process.Thank You.
