For hunters, the area surrounding Oronoco is a patchwork of cropland and small woodlots, which provide food and cover for whitetail deer, turkey, grouse, pheasant, squirrel, and cottontail rabbit. Most of this land is privately owned and getting landowner permission before hunting is a must. Local guides can be hired to enhance your hunting experience. Be sure to check hunting and fishing regulations and Lake Shady is within Oronoco city limits where hunting is not allowed.
