Natural Resources of Oronoco>Bird Watching

Bird Watching

Bald Eagles and a variety of waterfowl are regularly seen at Lake Shady. Even Common Loons and Osprey make occasional visits to the lake. Wild Turkeys are seen quite regularly in the city. A wide variety of songbirds including Goldfinch, Cardinals, Mourning Doves, Pileated Woodpeckers and Canadian Geese are year round residents. Orioles, Grosbeak, Wrens, Blackbirds and many others are summer residents and multiple species of Warblers migrate through in the spring and the fall. Oronoco and Lake Shady provide many opportunities for both the casual bird watcher and the dedicated list keeper.
