The Oronoco Floodplain is an area subject to occasional flooding. The intent of the Oronoco Floodplain District is to limit use of the flood plain to open land uses that are harmonious and appropriate to the physical development of the City of Oronoco. No uses other than those listed in the Oronoco Zoning Ordinance are permited in the Oronoco Floodplain. Some of the uses allowed include; cultivating crops, pasture, nursery, orchards, parks and wildlife sanctuaries. A map showing the boundaries of the Oronoco Flood Plain along with the 100 year and 500 year flood areas is shown in Figure 1.
