Two forks of the Zumbro River (middle fork and north fork) enter Oronoco on it's west side. The two forks merge just to the west of the Lake Shady Dam. The merged Zumbro River exits from the dam at the east side of Oronoco and continues to the east where it flows into Lake Zumbro. All forks of the Zumbro are used for recreational purposes (canoeing, fishing, hiking). The combination of the Zumbro River flowing into Lake Shady and exiting to the east, all within the boundaries of the City of Oronoco, provides a beautiful setting for the city. See the attached weblink for further details.
