Lake Shady

Oronoco Downtown and Lake Shady viewed from the West [Click here to view full size picture] Lake Shady is located within the boundaries of the City of Oronoco. The lake is approximately 179 acres in size. It is a recreational lake that is used for canoeing, small boat sailing, fishing and camping. Oronoco County Park is located on the northeastern end of the lake. This beautiful park has a playground for kids, camping and picknicking. The downtown part of Oronoco City is located on the eastern side of Oronoco, the Lake Shady Dam is on the south edge of the city's downtown. The lake is shallow in most places (2-3 feet), except for the main river channel and by the Lake Shady Dam where the depth can reach 9 feet.
