History of Oronoco>THERE IS GOLD IN THE RIVER

There is GOLD in the river.

The Plaque at the Oronoco Park Many years ago GOLD was found in the Zumbro River down stream from where the Oronoco Dam is located.

When the first flood came through and washed away the equipment that was used to pan for gold, they were rebuilt. However, when a second flood came through and again washed out the equipment, they were not rebuilt. I guess there was not that much "gold in the river".

A plaque at the Oronoco Park tells the story of the "Gold Rush" in Oronoco. Take the time to read it next time you visit the Park.
