Subject: Meeting minutes
Meeting was held at Memorial Field, July 10, 2007 at 8pm. Meeting was called to order at 807pm, absent members were Emily Fletcher and Charlie Fried. Council representative Kevin McDermott arrived at 820 pm.
Plaque from
the Slammers.
The park board
received a plaque from Nichole Lien of the Slammers. Plaque was in thanks
of the City sponsoring their team. Matt will present the plaque to the CC
at the next meeting.
Co-ed league
for 2008.
Nichole Lien
and Tammy Kennedy have asked about starting a co-ed softball league for
2008. Lien mentioned that they would like two fields, which we do not
have. Board recommended that if a league is formed, they attempt to get
all games played on the one field, or look at playing some in P.I. Park board
also mentioned the possibility of charging a "field fee" for
maintaining the fields. It was also suggested that if a league is formed,
it would be nice to have a tournament during Gold Rush.
River Park
City clerk has
received calls about the tennis court being finished (fencing, net, and
striping). Board suggested getting this into next years budget.
Emily Fletcher has been getting estimates for fence installation and will have
those numbers in the next week or so.
Dock at
River Park
Adam researched
a DNR grant and found that the contact is Joel Wagner, same person we have been
working with to install the canoe landing. We will have Charile Fried ask
Joel about the feasibility of the dock being installed.
Gold Rush
ice sales
Matt has
contacted the Gold Rush committee and volunteered the parks board to sale
ice. Matt and Grant will take care of the sales on Saturday of Gold
Rush. We will look for volunteers for Friday. Lake Shady committee
is taking care of Sunday.
2008 budget was discussed and what should be asked for. Tabled until August meeting.
Valley View
trail access
City engineer
recommended install of a sidewalk at a cost of approximately $13000, $1900 of
which is for removal of a homeowners landscaping that is installed in the trail
easement and install of sod. Park board recommends marking the trail as
an access, making it a grass trail lined with a split rail fence, or decorative
posts. Board will wait to see what CC suggests.
