Called to order at 7:12 pm

1. River Park

    a. Shelter-

Discussed the permit issue.  Committee did not know it was necessary to file for a permit.  Matt will ask Cheryl to submit a permit.

    b. Clean up

Was discussed how to proceed with cleaning up of River Park.  Adam Brase motioned that we rent a compact utility tractor with a loader and box rake to push brush into a large pile and to level the area off.  We could also use the tractor to groom trails at Riverwood Hills and Memorial field for some maintenance.  Cost of rental not to exceed $200  Grant seconded, all in favor, motion approved.  Matt will bring to City council.

    c. Install of marker sign

Matt, Adam, and Grant will install the sign on Saturday, May 12.

2. Trees!

    a. Recap

Members of the committee received many favorable comments about the trees.  Emily Fletcher will send the Oronoco Fire Department a thank you note for all the watering they did for us.  A thank you note will also be sent to John Marx of Marx tree service for the donation of the mulch.  Adam Brase asked if we could get another load of mulch to place under the bleachers at Memorial field.  Matt will call John.

    b. Watering

It was discussed that we do not want to keep asking the Fire Dept. to do this as it is very time consuming.  Emily Fletcher stated that she has two large plastic barrels that we could use to water the trees.  Members of the committee will take it upon themselves to keep the trees watered.

3. Memorial Field

    a. Reconditioning recommendations

        1. infield to outfield "lip"

Committee members will do this if the CC approves the rental of the utility tractor with box rake.

        2. Pitchers Mound placement

The pitchers mound is to close to home plate.  Matt will recommend to the city to have the new maintenance staff check on the correct placement.

        3. GOPHERS!

            a. Filling holes

Matt will discuss this with the city and the new maintenacne staff.

    b. Field Sponsors?

The possibilitiy of having field sponsors was discussed.  Matt will ask Cheryl to send a letter to the league of MN cities to determine if they do this, and if they do, how much money do they charge and who supplies the signs.  Also, what is the actual dollar figure that is made.

4. Weed Spraying

    a. Would like to bring to CC the recommendation of myself spraying the parks.

        1. Concerns....

The possibility of Matt spraying the trails and newly seeded area in Riverwood Hills park was discussed.  Matt stated that he could do the entire area for approximately $40-$50, however he is not a licensed applicator.  It was stated that the City may hire a maintenance staff that has an applicators license, however, we can't wait much longer to get the area sprayed as weeds are beginning to take over.  Grant motioned to hire a licensed company to spray the seeded area and the trails in Riverwood Hills Park.  Adam Brase 2nd, all in favor, motion passed.  Matt will bring to CC for approval.

5. Trail Maintenance

    a. Need a concrete recommendation to the CC.

In regards to the trail by the pumping station.  Matt will ask Cheryl to draft a letter to Dan Fitzpatrick asking for the concrete spillway to be installed with a deadline of the install being July 15th.  There are a lot of residents that use this trail as access to the park and it is simply to dangerous for pedestrian traffic in it's current state.

6. Valley View entrance to Riverwood Hills Park

    a. E-mail from Cheryl.

We will look at getting quotes from a couple different landscape installers and bring to next meeting.

7. T-ball update

    a. Numbers

Currently at 46 4-6 year olds.  First practice is on June 12.

Meeting adjourned at 8:44 pm.
