VFW Post 9647 Swanson-Owen

VVW Post 9647 Swanson-Owen [Click here to view full size picture] The Post is named in honor of men killed in World War II. VFW provides flags for the area and displays them on Veterans Holidays and Celebrations. Please contact Don Baker at 356-8378 or The VFW Box 24 Oronoco, MN 55960 for more information. CEREMONIES

Top
On Memorial Day, there is a service at the County Bridge in Oronoco at 8:00 AM. After that, a grave side service is held at 8:30 AM at the Oronoco Cemetary honoring Veterans. After the cermonies, the Auxilliary Ladies serve rolls and coffee at the Post Home. The flags are put up before the services.

o The VFW can also be rented for funerals. The VFW has a Color Guard and Firing Squad to serve at funerals if requested. The Auxiliary Ladies will serve lunch if requested.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST

A pancake breakfast is held at the VFW on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month from 7:30-12:30. Pancakes, sausage, milk, juice and coffee are served. Plan on plenty of good food and good conversation!!

In January, the proceeds from the pancake breakfast is donated to the Eagles Cancer Telethon.

Other Activities

o February: The Auxilliary woman make Valentines fro the Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island.

o July 4th: Flags are displayed on the street light poles.

o Many members volunteer serveral times a month at the Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island.

o December: The Auxilliary Ladies make fruit baskets for the shut-in Veterans.

Chicken & Biscuits Dinner
